HELPLINE FOR HOMEOWNERS IN TROUBLE

(Article published in HWW June 2007)

NYC Comptroller William C. Thompson has launched a Foreclosure Prevention Helpline to assist New Yorkers burdened with mortgage payments and threatened with foreclosure – a growing problem especially in poor and minority neighborhoods. According to Thompson, says sub-prime loans have made homeownership possible for a wider range of New Yorkers but also bring with them a greater risk of default.

For information and advice, call the Helpline at (212) 669-4600.
